Low-key birthday parties

As a parent, I’ve heard plenty of horror stories about the elaborate birthday parties that parents stage for their very young children. I absolutely REFUSE to get into all that, and I’m glad to see I’m not the only one.

I recently read an article on Yahoo about a group called Birthdays Without Pressure that advocates very simple, low-cost parties for kids. I’m not going to join the group or anything, but I am definitely glad that they exist. I think it’s insane to spend thousands of dollars on a party for a 6-year-old or whatever, and I won’t even let my son attend events that I think are too elaborate. Keep it simple, stupid!
