Stocking Stuffers

cstocking.jpg So, what do you like to give as stocking stuffers? Different families have different traditions about how to fill their Christmas stockings, which I think is interesting. For example, some parents put fruit, nuts, and/or other snacks into their kids’ stockings. Others fill it with necessities like toiletries, socks, or underwear.

In my family, everyone hangs a stocking (no matter how old they are), and we fill the stockings with more fun stuff like small toys, games, or whatever. So little Johnny isn’t going to find a toothbrush in his stocking and Gramps isn’t going to find his filled with adult pads. Instead, they might get new headphones for their iPods, a video game cartridge, a CD, or even a watch.

I firmly believe in giving fun stuff for Christmas, and as long as I can afford to do so, I won’t use this time to give my son things that he actually needs, such as clothing. This is a time for extras, and I feel blessed that we’re in a position to handle the holiday this way!
