Clinton, McCain Win

mccain.jpg I haven’t blogged about the primaries very much because I don’t like to talk politics, but I think what happened in New Hampshire yesterday is worth mentioning. Both Hillary Clinton and John McCain pulled off upset victories to reinvigorate their campaigns and muddy the presidential nomination fight for their respective parties.

Just when it looked like many news outlets were ready to count Clinton out and anoint Barack Obama as the clear Democratic frontrunner, the Clinton campaign eked out a slight win in New Hampshire. Pundits credit several things for Hillary’s surprise showing, including lower turnout from the young voters who carried Obama in Iowa; stronger support from female voters; and even Hillary’s uncharacteristic show of emotion as she vowed to fight on in a pre-primary speech.

McCain similarly edged out Mitt Romney and Iowa winner Mike Huckabee, as New Hampshire’s notoriously independent voters seemed to embrace his more centrist message.

I have to admit that I’m usually bored by politics, but it looks like this campaign is going to be an exciting one!
