John Updike dies at 76
Prolific Pulitzer prize-winning writer John Updike passed away today at the age of 76. He had been suffering from lung cancer for a long time, and was in hospice when he died.
Updike is the author of a whole slew of novels, short stories, poetry, and essays, but is probably best known for his series of Rabbit books. Beginning with Rabbit, Run in 1960, the novels focus on a protagonist named Harry “Rabbit” Angstrom and the various dramas that play out in his life.
Updike also wrote The Witches of Eastwick, which was later turned into a film starring Jack Nicholson, Susan Sarandon, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Cher.
The Rabbit series is a great one, and I highly recommend that you read them from the beginning. RIP, Mr. Updike.

John Updike’s passing is sad, but he left a ton of awesome work. “Immortality is nontransferrable” he said appropriately.
