I just read that the Illinois senate has voted to impeach Governor Rod Blagojevich for abuse of power. According to the very short AP blurb that was published, 44 out of 59 senators voted for impeachment.
The process isn’t over yet, however, as all the senators must vote one way or the other, and the presiding judge must also enter a ruling before the decision becomes final.
I hoping for impeachment here, as Blagojevich is the epitome of what’s wrong with our political system today. I can’t believe how brazen this guy was about trying to sell a frickin’ U.S. Senate seat for pete’s sake! What a stain on Illinois for sure. Between Blagojevich and former governor Ryan, who is currently serving time for fraud and racketeering, I have to hang my head in shame for my home state. What a joke!
