De-Cluttering

I have been on a mission to de-clutter the house. We don’t have a lot of space in here, and since we keep accumulating new stuff year after year without ever throwing anything away, we inevitably have a bunch of clutter to deal with. Usually I can handle the situation, but every once in a while it gets to me and I just have to do something about it.

Yesterday was one of those days. I went around with a couple of huge garbage bags, determined to throw away at least 50 things. I ended up getting rid of lots of old t-shirts, a couple of pet beds the dogs haven’t used in ages, some video games that have been collecting dust in the closet for at least 6 years, a hand-held steam cleaner that we never use, old Christmas and Halloween decorations, a bunch of VHS tapes, and a couple of ratty blankets.

Why did we even have all this stuff for so long? Mostly because Jerry objected every time I tried to throw it out. This time, I didn’t wait for his sanction. I just dumped everything that I know he hasn’t used in years. If he even notices the items are missing, I’ll be shocked.

Anyway, I do feel a little better now that I’ve gotten rid of all that junk. But there’s still a lot more where that came from!
