Kanye and Taylor Swift
By now everyone knows how Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift‘s acceptance speech at the VMA the other night to say that he thought Beyonce should have won. I’m not into music at all, so I had never even seen the videos in question. I watched both of them — Beyonce’s “Single Ladies” and Swift’s “You Belong With Me” — and wasn’t overly impressed by either. Kayne thought Beyonce dancing was one of the best videos of all-time? She’s an awesome dancer and all, but as a video that didn’t say much.
Swift’s video wasn’t all that original, but I can see how the theme would resonate with the pre-teen girls that seem to make up most of her fan base. If the winners are chosen by public vote, then I can see how Swift won a Video Music Award.
At any rate, there’s simply no excuse for Kanye’s outrageous behavior. Someone needs to take him behind a shed and give him a few whacks with one of those heavy wrought iron candle sconces that are popular these days. That might be the only way to get through to the egotistical jackass.
