Yale Strangler Arrested

raymond clark facebook Raymond Clark III, a technician who worked in the same Yale laboratory as murder victim Annie Le, has been arrested and charged with murder. Police first brought him in for questioning and to get a DNA sample, and then arrested him a couple days later, so apparently they got a match to whatever was recovered from the crime scene. Also, it looks like Clark was picked up at a motel, which perhaps means he was planning on running??

New Haven police aren’t willing to speculate about motive because Clark hasn’t said anything to them yet. But some coworkers have indicated Clark was a “control freak” who was pretty anal about keeping the mouse cages clean and often confronted those who didn’t care about cleanliness and order as much as he did. And Clark even sent a text message to Le on the day she disappeared, saying he wanted to talk to her about lab cleanliness. Wow. Please don’t tell me that’s what led him to take a life!

Sounds like a pretty sick individual. Yeah, yeah, I know he needs to be presumed innocent, but whatever. I’m not on the jury, so I can think what I want right now!

One Response to “Yale Strangler Arrested”

  1. I live in Woodbridge, which is the town right next to New Haven and Yale. I have friends that work at Yale, and it has been a pretty stressful week.

I don’t think that the fact that Clark was at a hotel indicates he was thinking about running. My understanding is that he was being watched by the police and the media 24×7 for several days before his actual arrest.

I have no idea what goes through the mind of an alleged killer, but I suspect it would feel weird to go back to ones house after murdering someone, especially when your name starts to get out and there are police and media following your every step.

Anyway, I wrote about what things were like at the New Haven Police Department the morning just before Clark was arrested. I was passing by on my way to the train station. Stop by and read my blog post “Outbursts”
http://www.orient-lodge.com/node/3740 for some of my reflections.

Oh, and you might want to read some of my recent blog posts about jury duty. I’m glad I’m not going to be on that jury!
