Joe Mauer, AL MVP
I usually don’t care about these types of baseball awards, but I have to say that I was happy to hear that Joe Mauer of the Minnesota Twins was named the AL MVP. Mauer has been deserving of that award for several years now. In fact, I thought he should have won back in 2006, but teammate Justin Morneau inexplicably got the nod instead.
What did Mauer do this year to earn the award? Besides being one of the best defensive catchers in the league, he hit .365, with 28 homers and 96 RBI. But more than that, he’s absolutely critical to the Twins’ success.They probably wouldn’t be a playoff team without him.
