I’m sick of the utterly crappy weather around here and am totally jealous of people who can afford vacation homes in Hawaii, Florida, and other warm locales. Wouldn’t it be awesome to be able to use the word “winter” as a verb, as in “We’re going to winter in the Keys, see you in the spring!” Clearly that will never happen to me unless I manage to win the lottery, but it’s still fun to dream!
A coroner has concluded that Brittany Murphy died of pneumonia. The report also stated that there were prescription drugs in Murphy’s system, which also could have contributed to her death, and was also suffering from anemia at the time.
Because of the pneumonia indication, the death is ruled as natural — and preventable. Still, some people are intimating that the prescription drugs had more to do with the death than the report says. Apparently, overuse of these drugs can exacerbate pneumonia symptoms, making it hard to determine whether it was the drugs or the pneumonia that was really to blame.
Well, I’m sure folks will continue to debate this for a few hours before moving on to the next bit of celeb gossip.

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE the self-checkout lane at places like grocery stores and Wal-Mart! I think running all of the items I bought through the barcode scanner is fun, and I seem to be able to do it a heck of a lot faster than the cashiers working there. I use self-checkout whenever I can and just wish more places had these aisles!
How great has the 2009-10 hockey season been thus far for Chicago Blackhawks fans? The team is in first place in the division and they look to be a lock for the playoffs (unless something utterly disastrous happens in the last 30 games). I’m very excited about this year’s group. I think they can go all the way to the finals!
Anyway, I played the demo of the NHL ’10 video game on my xbox 360 last night and was blown away by the graphics and action. I have to buy this thing! Oh, and it doesn’t hurt that my favorite player, Patrick Kane, is on the cover — dangling mouthguard and all! I don’t want to pay $70 for this, but NHL ’10 has been out for a while so I should be able to find a cheap used copy somewhere.
