Kagan Confirmed

Elena Kagan has been confirmed as the 112th justice of the Supreme Court. The Senate voted 63-37 for confirmation, and it was really no surprise to anyone that she got in. In all honesty, I don’t even see why we go through the friggin’ charade of confirmation hearings. In this day and age, candidates are thoroughly vetted well ahead of time, and any skeletons in their closets will be unearthed by someone and posted on the Internet somewhere. I mean, when’s the last time a Supreme Court nominee hasn’t been confirmed?? You have to go all the way back to Reagan’s administration for that.

Well, let’s see if Kagan ends up being as liberal as everyone thinks she is. Most justices tend to take a middle ground once confirmed, except for a notable few (*cough* Ginsberg *cough*), so hopefully Kagan follows suit.
